It is important that you take in iron supplements if you feel that the iron that you are taking in through your diet is not enough.
Pregnant women require 1500 mg of calcium daily. This is important for the bone growth of the fetus and it also prevents the decrease in bone density of the mother. Calcium rich foods are tofu, green leafy vegetables, salmon, and dairy products.
Consuming too many calories will lead you to gain weight and it is very difficult to shed weight after the baby is born. It can also make you susceptible to a number of weight related disorders as well. It is therefore important that you intake only as much as is required. Again not getting the enough calories will result in your baby being underweight and it may also lead to slow fetal development. The right calorie intake is therefore of utmost importance.
